The winner of Lesley Laird MP’s first ever Christmas card competition experienced the thrill of seeing her design roll off the printing presses on Thursday.
A drawing by Adela Friedrichova (12), a first year pupil at Viewforth High School, KIrkcaldy, was among over a hundred entries submitted by pupils from five local primary and high schools for the competition.
Her pastel drawing of a Christmas tree lit by a full moon was inspired by her memories of Prague, a city Adela visited when she lived in the Czech Republic.
The talented young artist, who hopes one day to become a biologist, met Lesley Laird at Multiprint in Kirkcaldy to see the first finished card before copies are posted out around the UK.
Lesley Laird, MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath, said: “Adela’s Christmas card design is wonderful and I’m proud to showcase it this festive season.
“The standard of entries we had from all the schools was astounding and picking the winner was no easy task.
“By way of recognition to the five runners up, we also carried their designs on the back of the card.”
She added: “I’d like to thank all those who submitted an entry – their efforts were very much appreciated – and also to Multiprint in Kirkcaldy, whose team produced a fantastic finished card.”
The runners up were: Ailsa Burns (Viewforth HS), Erica Scott (St Brides RC PS) Loanna Leka (Beath HS), Emily Dowling (Kirkcaldy HS) and Abbey Brebner (Foulard PS).
