Fife Council has been keeping in touch with businesses and as a result of their feedback I have now asked our officers to call on Transport Scotland for a relaxation of routing for LGVs in order to accommodate keeping the smaller business community on the road. In Fife many of our businesses rely on LGV vehicles to serve their customers especially at this time of year. The current restrictions are putting additional costs onto business in terms of fuel and time and it would make sense to let them use the same route as HGVs to Kincardine.
We also need to recognise the increased travel costs many people are taking on and the longer travel day too. Fife businesses and their employees are doing a great job keeping the Fife economy moving.
Let’s hope that the new year does indeed get everyone back to a normal commute.
