Glad It’s Friday….

Been a very busy week.  Preparation for the budget is well underway as we once again look to find ways to balance the books.  This year we’ve been trying to bring all the opposition parties into the process to try and ensure that where we can we can have a common understanding and consensus.

I’ve also been out in the evenings attending the Muir Dean Trust Trustees meeting and also the Inverkeithing High School Parent Council meeting – both on the same night.

I’ve also been starting to do so preparation to take part in an event on the concept of Basic Income on 28 January.  I’ve been asked to speak at the event and its been interesting to look at what other countries around the globe are also doing on this concept. As part of Fife’s Fairer Fife Commission, Fairness Matters – recommendations we’ve also been looking here in Fife at how we could develop such a pilot. Early days but more to come on this for sure…..

I was delighted to be asked once again to join Fife Chamber of Commerce judging panel for the shortlist of the Fife Business Awards.  These annual awards are very competitive and the standard this year was exceptionally high.  It was a tough job for the judging panel – but we got there in the end.  Now, we just have to all wait for the envelopes to get opened at the Awards Night at the end of March.
