Last Council Meeting

Today was the final council meeting of this Administration.  It’s been an amazing 5 years.  Council Leader, David Ross presented his Leader’s Report and it was a very significant list of achievements…  here are just a few

  • 2700 affordable homes built – and this year the UK’s No1 social house builder – a phenomenal achievement
  • Reduced housing waiting list by over 3,000
  • More Young Fifers in to Work and employability aligned with education
  • Over £23M invested in Education and early the best attainment and results ever
  • Support for the most vulnerable in our society – mitigating the bedroom tax, tacking fuel poverty, breakfast cafes, and the establishment of a CDFI to provide an alternative to pay day lenders
  • 3 new schools built
  • 3 new care homes built/underway and planning to build 3 more – reversing the SNP plans to sell of Council homes
  • Increased investment approved for roads, pavements and cycle paths
  • Investment in community and sport facilities including play parks and skateparks
  • Replaced the 50+ class room assistants cut by the SNP
  • Replaced the 40/50 front line social workers cut by the SNP
  • Scrapped care charges which the SNP has raised from £4 per week to £11 per week
  • Our Quid a Kid & Summer of Fun and Free Swim programme for kids across Fife
  • Invested and supported the STAG and campaign for the Levenmouth Rail Link
  • Campaigned for Task Force for closure of Tullis Russell and Longanett and secured funding to assist with redeployment and community regeneration

We want to be back to build on what we’ve achieved.  There is still much to do and we have shown that Fife Labour knows how to deliver.  If you want a Council that is well run, delivers on its promises – is always 100% focused on the day job – and stands up for Fife – then make sure you re-elect a Fife Labour Council by voting for your Fife Labour Candidates with your No 1, and No 2 preference votes.
