Over the last few weeks I have met with a number of very concerned residents regarding the proposed housing development at Fulmar Way. There is real anger in the community, particularly in Otterstoun Grove and Markfield about the impact this development will have on their environment, outlook and quality of life.
The background to this development is that it was allocated by the Scottish Government Reporter against the recommendation of Fife Council – which means that the Council now has to implement the decision.
There are also concerns from the business community. Experience shows that housing and industrial estates just don’t mix too well. Businesses are on industrial estates because they want a business environment that allows them to operate 24×7 without impacting on residents. And residents typically don’t want to live next door to a business that operates 24×7.
