Postings auction to be streamed live from London

The sale of The Postings shopping centre is to be broadcast live from London, it has emerged.
The Kirkcaldy mall, listed on the market with a reserve price of just £1, will be sold by auctioneers Allsop at Barclay House on February 5.
Current owners Columbia Threadneedle held talks with Lesley Laird MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath today (Thursday).
Lesley said: “The £1 tagline generated substantial media interest across the UK but, first and foremost, this story belongs to Kirkcaldy and what happens next to our town centre.
“During the call I learned there are a number of potential buyers looking seriously at the site.
“Who knows? We may see a bidding war develop. It all depends on who comes forward on the day to bid by telephone or from the floor.
“The good news is we’ll all be able to watch the auction live.”
Lesley added: “Next week will see the departure of M&S from the High Street and it would be great if, when one door closed in the town centre, another opened.
“Whoever buys the site must work closely with the Council and Kirkcaldy 4 All to bring forward proposals that will revitalise this key part of the town. I’ll be looking to engage with the new owners at the earliest opportunity.”
The online live link will not be available until the day of the auction. Visit the Allsop auction website at to follow the coverage.
The auction starts at 10am, with bidding on lots 1-75. The Postings is listed as lot 72.
